Many people talk about moments that changed their lives. I am here to tell you that releasing Concrete Techniques on November 18th, 2008, in fact, really did. Yesterday marked the 5th year anniversary of the album, produced by Universal DJ Sect. We put our last dollars into a project that we felt very good about. 12 days after its release, we opened for Wu Tang Clan at The Roseland Theater (obviously the biggest show of my life); performed “Bring The Horns” and the place went crazy. I think about that moment often because it took me a long time to get there, but I never stopped. The album garnered national and international attention from the likes of Okayplayer and URB magazine, and helped solidify Hip Hop music from Portland, OR is serious. To this day people still hit me up about this album, that song, and that show in Portland. Before its release I’d never traveled outside the west coast with my music. These last five years have been very fun at times, unpredictable, challenging, yet amazing. I am confident that everything progressive in life starts with believing in yourself, and actually having the courage to do so. To commemorate the 5th year, we have made the digital download of the 12 tracks $5. I am sure you will find something you enjoy on CT. Peace.
